The Racine Common Council voted 15-0 to approve the Mayor’s request to give away one of our parks, which already had a golf course, to a group who wants to develop a golf course. (World class!) This requires completely destroying the existing park and shoreline, cutting down all the trees and replacing what the Lake has created over the decades with artificial sand dunes as part of the “improvements”. Thus, the Shopkeepers decided to photograph and memorialize what will soon be lost forever and relegated to the dustbin of forgotten memories.
